Design Sprint and LSP
November 14, 2019
Business Applications
Fabrizio Faraco
The meeting discussed challenges and strategies for combining Design Thinking and Lego Serious Play, including problem definition, maintaining flow, and using LSP for reflection and bulletproofing. Participants shared their experiences and suggested integrating Design Sprint activities with LSP for more insight and depth. The importance of maintaining focus on the problem and subject, as well as moving forward after the session, was emphasized. Fabrizio discusses the difference between using LSP in Design Sprint methodology versus a complete design thinking process using LSP. He introduced the four values of Design Sprint methodology and how they align with LSP, emphasizing the importance of sharing the mindsets of both methodologies to effectively solve problems. LSP can be used in expert interviews, producing solutions, fatigue, non-digital problems, retrospective, and stakeholder review, but sketching may be easier in some cases. Fabrizio discusses using the Five Days scheme and liberating structures to address challenges in mixing methodologies and the importance of maintaining flow in facilitation and gives examples of adjusting the script on the fly. Participants identified different challenges: from developing the right structure for clients using Design Thinking and avoiding misunderstandings about prototypes, to keeping track of insights and maintaining a logical trail when exploring new directions in Design Sprints and Design Thinking to helping people discover the correct insight during the exploration phase of Design Thinking.
