Nadia Benedetti
Nadia emphasized the importance of creativity and imagination in problem solving, citing the example of Homo sapiens' ability to adapt to changing environments, outlining a four-step process for creative problem solving, i.e. clarification, generating ideas, selecting the best solution, and implementing/experimenting with the solution, and techniques for pushing imagination. Nadia explains the difference between problem solving and creative problem solving, emphasizing that imagination is key in the latter. She describes techniques for pushing imagination, including mind wandering, multiplying solutions, and forcing connections between disparate contexts Nadia leads a building exercise with Lego bricks to solve a common problem and asks participants to reflect on whether using the bricks accelerated or slowed down idea generation and which round was more productive and surprising. Participants shared their experiences with using Lego bricks for ideation, and how it can help break thinking habits, discussing the benefits and potential drawbacks of the process.
