Application Techniques
Robert Rasmussen and Per Kristiansen
The meeting discussed the need to adapt Lego Serious Play (LSP) principles for online facilitation, including using metaphors and 3D notetaking to enhance communication. The group also discussed the limitations of online LSP and the importance of focusing on what makes a real difference in LSP rather than what technology allows. The meeting ended with a discussion on the lack of chemistry and community spirit in remote settings.
Discussion on the future of virtual and face-to-face facilitation, need to be able to facilitate both, building challenge to create a metaphor for the working style of a well-functioning Agile Project team. Per discusses the limitations of LSP in a virtual setting and the need to adapt the mindset and play principles for online facilitation.
Robert outlines four LSP principles that could be injected into remote meetings: time to think before talking, use of metaphors and story making, thinking with your hands, and 100% involvement. Robert also suggests using the four C's (connect, construct, contemplate, continue), incorporating making of stuff and metaphors/storytelling, and building understanding as ways to inject LSP principles into remote meetings. Using metaphors and 3D notetaking can enhance communication in remote meetings. The goal is to innovate remote meetings with LSP principles and ultimately do face-to-face Lego play in a post-COVID world.
Per introduces a 4-hour introductory program to Lego Serious Play (LSP) called Intro to LSP, which provides a preview of the training and helps participants understand what can and cannot be done online.
